Things are shifting slowly, the focus is moving towards timing. With a runner that is almost inevitable! I never expected to break the 50min barrier so fast. My 10k this morning coming in at 49:55.
Whether you are new to running or on a comeback, the 50min barrier is a big thing. Of course, for beginners the 1 hour barrier is the most significant but once it is broken then its importance is out. But the 50min one, is critical as without reasonably good endurance you can't beat that.
I like the interval training I did yesterday. Running at high intensity for a km really puts your heart under the cosh. So I think this is now the way to go!
